I have been in contact
with Valerie & I told her that I was going to buy a pair of Val
slides and test them out and see how I like them. She just asked for my
address and sent me a Val
slide & a Valkit for Travel so I could test
them out and share my opinion on them (you can also check out my
reviews of the Valslide & Valkit).
After using them for a while (and having other people use them) here is
what I think:
Quality:
When
I first saw the Valband I have to admit I was kind of scared. I could
see the connection point and I wasn't sure how long it is.
Since it's basically a big rubber band, I was kind of worried to use it
as I am tall (6'1") & have long arms and legs so I would be
stretching it farther than most people when doing the exercises and I'm
sure you know how it feels when an elastic band snaps...now imagine a
really massive elastic band snapping on you...
However, Valerie sent it to me so I could try it and review it, so I
decided to try it and see how it went.
I found that it really was strong, and I stretched it quite far and it
hasn't broken yet. I've used it many times for my exercises and have
seen no signs if it getting weaker or breaking.
I stretched it pretty much as far as I could and it seems to be great.
I now trust it and I'm not afraid of it breaking on me.
Portability:
Since
it's just a big elastic band, it's quite portable. You could put it in
your pocket if you wanted. It weighs almost nothing and it's easy to
take with you anywhere you go.
Effectiveness:
It
proiveds good resistance and works like it's supposed to. I would like
it if it provided a little more resistance as I have quite strong legs,
but it worked well for strengthening my weak knees and there are other
exercises I can do for my legs with the Valslide.
Overall it is an effective piece of equipment.
Ease of Use:
It's
just a big elastic band, so it's pretty obvious how to use it. Nothing
complicated, nothing to figure out. It's really easy to use.
Results:
I
have used it mainly to strengthen my knees as I have bad knee genetics
and between the Valband and Valslide exercises I've seen a massive
difference in my knees. They don't hurt like they used to and I've
noticed that they are quite a bit stronger than they used to be. My
legs are naturally strong, but my knees have always have issues.
After using the Valband my knees don't hurt, so I've been quite happy with the results.
Complaints:
I don't really have any complaints. There is one thing that slightly annoys me, but I don't think it qualifies as a complaint.
The
issue is that I like to workout in shorts - I don't own sweat pants and
I prefer shorts over track pants. This creates a slight problem as
sometimes I find that when doing the exericses or putting the Valband
on my legs it rubs with my leg hairs and sometimes rips a few out.
However, it's only slightly a nuisance and it's something most people won't have to worry about.
Summary:
Overall
the Valband is high quality, provides good resistance & has helped
me improve my workouts. I love the combination of Valslide &
Valband workouts & they have become my two favorite tools.
If
you are looking for something to provide really high resistance, the
Valband will not provide that for you - however it will provide decent
resistance for building up weak muscles & it is especially useful
for recovering from injuries.
